Modern Arnis Information and Links
Class Times: QU Arnis Fridays 4 - 5pm Athletic Center Studio B
Buying Sticks? Here's a great site
I am certified with the IMAF and our class is thus an IMAF recognized Arnis class.
IMAF
Our "mother"
organization. This link has dates for upcoming seminars, new techniques
each month and information about Professor Presas, the current Grand Master (Randy
Shea) and the Masters of Tapi-Tapi as well as a wealth of other information.
You'll notice lots of seminars in Connecticut and the neighboring states all
year long.
IMAFP
This is the international IMAF based in the Philippines. They are the
group the Professor started there. Our US-based IMAF has contact with them
and Master Brian joined their camp summer 2006 but the two organizations are
otherwise separate.
World Modern Arnis Alliance
Organization formed by Datu Tim Hartman. This link has dates for his
upcoming seminars, information about the Professor as well as other information.
Hartman was one of the Professor's high ranking people and they traveled
together extensively. Hartman's Professor Presas Memorial site is nice (here).
Hartman also has some nice downloadable videos.
Arnis de Leon Site
This is the site of Grandmaster Anding de Leon. Very
worth looking at. He was one of the Professor's students in the
Philippines in the 1970s. After the Prof. died he formed his own
school. He teaches straight Modern Arnis with some additions he's added.
The neat thing is that he teaches the old material from the 70s too.
Michael Bates' Site
Michael Bates is a 4th degree black belt in
Modern Arnis. Good man and wonderful teacher. He has some good
articles and pictures about the professor on his site.
Tye Botting's Site
Tye and Michael Hume were my first two instructors in Arnis.
Site has interesting general information and really good book recommendations
(ask me if you have questions about them).
