"Awakening" - Overview
Our objective for GDD 250 is to learn and design a narrative driven game. Our idea, is Awakening. Inside our minds, there are systems that allow us to perform and react to different things. The Four core systems, are physical, emotional, intellectual and truth. To reach enlightenment, you must be strong in all 4 categories
Message of the project (Narrative Focus)
The first thing the player will read when they start Awakening is "Are you are enlightened." From here, the player is given minimal instruction on what to do. The underlying theme is learning what it takes to become enlightened, and to remove the darkness from their mind.
Weekly Goals
Week 1 - Conceptualize basic narrative elements, and game mechanics
Week 2 - Create the world structure in unity (13 level/platforms)
Week 3 - Character/NPC models, Completed Narrative Storyboard
Week 4 - Level designs (puzzles), Character Models, Intro visual
Week 5 - Establishing text, characters and end game scenarios
Week 6 - Midterm Due: Creating a playable demo with 4 levels.
Weekly Goals (Revised)
During the first half of the development cycle, our team has created a working demo. Most of the progress was through use of paper prototype and storyboarding. The team did not really start to work in Unity until the later weeks. Because of this, we posted mostly conceptual content. Now that we have a playable demo of sorts in Unity, it will be much easier to supply status updates that potential players would want to know. Our 3D models are coming along. This asset takes a long time to create, but progress started to really show in the later weeks. Hopefully soon we will be able to implement the models into the game and piece together the objects and characters within our narrative
